The Hebrew word “kabod” and the Greek word “doxa” when used in relationship to God mean majesty, splendor, brilliance, or awesomeness, or they can mean honor and/or praise because of or in the nature of God and/or a display of His nature/attributes in His works/actions.

 

Josh. 7:19        What does Joshua command Achan to do after it was revealed that he was the one who had disobeyed God?

Achan was to give honor/glory to God by telling the truth about what he had done wrong. Do you give glory/honor to God by truthfully admitting a sin you’ve committed that has affected other people, and why?

 

1 Sam. 6:3-5        What do the Philistine priests and diviners tell the Philistine lords/rulers to do in an attempt to rid themselves of God’s further judgment for having put the ark of God in the house of Dagan, their god?

Has God ever brought judgment on you because you didn’t give honor/glory to Him but rather gave it to some god of your own (e.g., yourself, sports, music, computers, video games, money, job, a relationship, materialism, car/truck, sex, etc.)?

If so, did you confess your sin to God and then give him glory/honor by acknowledging His supremacy over your life?

 

Psa. 96:1, 3          What is all the earth commanded to do among the nations?

Do you tell all kinds of people wherever you go about God’s glory/wonderful deeds (including His salvation of people, Psa. 96:2), and why?

 

Psa. 96:7-8          What are all the people of the earth commanded to do?

Are you ascribing glory (giving praise and honor) to the Lord because of who He is (His name/Being/nature/attributes)?

If so, how often, and how?

 

Psa. 66:1-5                What is all the earth commanded to do?

Are you joyfully singing the glory (praise, awesomeness) of God’s name (His works and attributes)?

If so, how often, and why?

 

Isa. 43:1, 7; Jer. 13:11             Why did God create/form/make the people of Israel?

Did you realize that the people of Israel were created to be God’s chosen people (Psa. 105:43; Deut. 4:37; 7:7-8) for God’s glory/honor?

How does that make you feel, and why?

 

Isa. 66:19          What will believing Israelites do among the nations (during the Millennium, Isa. 66:15-17, that they failed to do during the Old Testament times)?

If you’re a believer/Christian (one of God’s chosen people spiritually, 1 Pet. 2:9), are you declaring God’s glory (His excellencies, His nature and works, 1 Pet. 2:9) by sharing with people the gospel (the good news of His saving people from hell to heaven because of His love, mercy, forgiveness, righteousness, justice, holiness, sovereignty, etc.)?

If so, how often?

 

Hab. 2:14              What will the earth be filled with, as the waters cover the sea (during the Millennium, Hab. 2:2-3)?

Will you be there to see and hear this knowledge of the Lord’s glory (awesome nature and deeds), 2 Tim. 2:11-12; Rev. 5:9-10; 20:6, and why?

 

Jn. 11:1, 4            What was for the glory (praise and honor) of God?

Have you ever thought about the fact that some people’s sicknesses are for the glory of God?

If so, how do you feel about God making some people sick for this reason?

 

Rom. 9:22-23           Why is God patient in His ultimate judgment upon unbelievers?

If you’re a Christian/believer, aren’t you glad that God has been patient for now with unbelievers so that you could be a vessel/object of God’s mercy prepared beforehand by God for glory(splendor in heaven)?

 

Rom. 11:36          From God and through God and to God (Eph. 1:5) are all things (including the merciful salvation He gives to certain people, Rom. 11:5, 7-8, 11, 25-26, 30-32) and for that reason, what should be given to Him?

Are you giving God glory (praise) forever (continuously), and why?

 

2 Cor. 4:15            As more people receive grace (salvation), it should cause the giving of thanks to abound/increase to what?

Do people getting saved by God’s grace cause you to thank God to His glory (praise and honor), and why?

 

2 Cor. 8:19              For what was the financial help of needy Christians?

Is God being glorified/praised because you financially help needy Christians?

 

Eph. 1:5-6, 11-12, 14         What is to the praise of the glory (awesomeness) of God’s grace and the praise of God’s glory (nature/attributes/grace)?

Are you praising God for the fact that certain people are predestined by God to become His spiritual sons/children, and why?

 

Phil. 1:11             Being filled (overflowing) with the fruit (product) of righteousness (doing right)which comes through Jesus Christ (Jn. 15:5), should be for what purpose?

Are you doing right things in life for the purpose of bringing glory/honor to God rather than to look good in the eyes of others or to get a good feeling for yourself?

 

Phil. 2:9-11              How will God the Father get glory (praise and honor) one day in the future?

How does knowing that atheists, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, etc. will one day bow before and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord make you feel, and why?

 

Rev. 11:13               After 7,000 evil people were killed in an earthquake (from the Lord), what did the survivors in the city do?

Do you give God glory (honor and recognition for His awesome power)?

If so, when?

 

Rev. 14:6-7             What will an angel in the future (during the seven year tribulation period after the rapture of all Christians, 1 Thes. 4:13-17; Dan. 9:24-27) command everyone on earth to give God because the hour of His judgment (of the people on earth) is about to come?

Why does glory (honor and praise) belong to God (Rev. 19:1-2)?

Do you see by now that God deserves and commands glory (honor and praise) be given Him by everyone because of who He is, what He’s done, and what He will do?

 

Phil. 4:20              What should be to our God and Father?

And why, Rev. 4:11?

Will you be giving God glory (praise and honor) from now on because He’s worthy of it?

 

Ex. 33:18-23            What did Moses request to see of God?

[God partially granted Moses his request to see His direct/essential being by letting Moses see all His goodness (God’s back, signifying the reflection of God’s glory or spiritual nature in its brilliancy).].

Why didn’t God want Moses to see His face (the fullness of His direct glory/nature)?

Do you see/realize how awesome God must really be?
