I was born in a small town in southeastern Thailand. My father is Thai; my mother is Chinese. My parents are separated, and my mother never received financial support from my father, so I had a very difficult childhood.

Although I was raised in a Buddhist family, I believed that somewhere in the universe there was a supreme being, only I did not know who He was. Occasionally, I attended programs at the Community Christian Center near home. Here I observed the quality of life among these Christian people. They had something wonderful that I did not possess. I learned that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God was what made them different. But at that time my heart was closed to the message of God, even though fear, loneliness and emptiness still remained in my heart.

However, the Bible message that I heard at the Center stayed with me. Jesus’ words kept going through my mind, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matt. 7:7).

I began to realize that Jesus Christ was the unknown supreme being for whom I had been searching. So, I put my faith in Jesus Christ, trusting that His death paid the penalty for all my sins and guaranteed me eternal life in heaven.

Before I accepted Christ, I was so shy I couldn’t talk to anyone. For example, my boss would ask me questions, and I wouldn’t answer. But the day after I accepted Christ, my boss asked me a question, and I looked straight at him and answered. He looked at me and said, “What happened to you?”

Christ made a difference in my attitude toward my family, too. I had always worried about my family, but after trusting Christ, I turned them over to God. Now my sister has taken over the house work, allowing me to spend four years studying in the United States.

God has given me a new heart and life. Before receiving Christ as my Savior, I felt that life was useless – the same boring routine day after day. Now life is rich, exciting and fulfilling, and I look forward to every day.
